had inversion ankle sprain 3 1/2 weeks ago. the swelling is now gone and i can put weight on it. is kt tape or regular tape best for return to soccer?

OTC Ankle brace: You're better off using an otc brace or splint that trying to tape yourself up at home.  It's not as easy as the professional trainers make it look.  You could also just see a podiatrist - many of us stock simple braces for simple sprains.  These will protect the ligaments of the ankle - that's what they are designed for.

i started feeling pain in my leg after soccer practice. looking at leg muscle photos in google it would seem to be in the pectineus/adductor longus area. any advice to identify from which area the pain is coming? is kinesio tape effective?

: Your body is talking to you.  Listen and take good notes. What makes it hurt or get better. And discuss with a Dr who can examine you.

Ankle: I would enter into Google ankle sprain. The same exercises we use to rehab a sprained ankle are helpful to prevent them. They are simple exercises and typically can be done with a resistance band

Sprained?: Rolling an ankle is more often than not a sprain. Follow the rice treatment. Rest, ice, compression and elevation. If no improvement see foot and ankle specialist.

Ankle : Initially rest, elevation, ice and anti inflammatory drugs. As healing occurs the application of heat and introduction of exercise will promote early recovery. Good Luck

Ankle bruise: The opponent kicked your ankle?  Welcome to soccer! It's probably a bruise or sprain. No playing or running for 5 days. If the pain gets worse or swells please go to your doctor. Also in the future for this type of injury please apply cold to the area immediately as long as the skin is intact. I use a cold soda can, bag of ice or bag of frozen vegetables when I have a sports collision.

Another: 2-4 weeks at least. Bone "bruises" (Periosteal hematoma )
are notorious for prolonged disability. This is a collection of blood (now clotted) UNDER the LINING of the BONE ITSELF!! The CIRCULATION is LIMITED in that area.  ACTIVE PHYSICAL THERAPY along with DEEP HEAT and ULTRASOUND treatments is INDICATED and will diminish the time for recovery

Possibly see doc: If you are having ankle pain that is not helping with at home conservative measures (ie the rice protocol, rest, ice, compression, elevation) then it is not a bad idea to check in with a foot and ankle specialist to ensure that there might not have been any other injury that might have occurred during the game.
