my partner does not have steady/stable hands. his hands and fingers always shake, but it is not severe or painful. what could this be?

Just a thought: The most "common" cause of tremor in young people (I assume your Partner is in his 30s to 40's is FAMILIAL BENIGN TREMOR...simple question does anyone in his family have the condition....that being said there are a number of more serious conditions ranging from an overactive thyroid to Parkinsonism....best answer ..see a neurologist!

More info needed: Are your hands also red?  Any fever?  Any swelling in the hand/knuckle joints?  If it does not go away on its own, should be evaluated by a doctor.

Carpal tunnel issues: A person who had worked with his hands for many years, can develop problems with the nerves in the hands or arms. Symptoms can come from some parts of nerves getting compressed, as in carpal tunnel syndrome. A primary care doctor, an occupational medicine doctor, an orthopedic doctor, or a rheumatologist can do an exam, look for the cause, and start treatment. Sometimes, surgery is needed.

Need more info: You have a problem not withstanding having had a traumatic injury to your hand or wrist requires a visit to an orthopedic surgeon whose sub-specialty  is hand and wrist surgery now.

i have a painful feeling in my hand between my fingers when i surf. the water is no cold, something about 20c. it's normal?

Accepted Answer

You could be having: A circulatory problem, where exposure to cold results in pain, numbness/tingling/cold feeling in fingers/hand. Bluish tinge is seen commonly. This is the raynaud's phenomenon.
Other rarer causes might cause it as well. 
See your gp or a hand surgeon, for starters, but might need a vascular surgeon as well.
It could be normal, but have it checked out first, to ensure its not something else.

i put lotion on my hands constantly as i am always washing them or sanitizing. the tips of my fingers keep splitting open and it takes forever to heal and it is painful. what can i do to help heal them? why does it happen? tyvm?

Overwashing?: Stop washing so much. It dries out the skin. Keep using lotion. See a dermatologist if the problem continues.

Get a physcial: Bilateral arm/hand pain can ocurr from underlying metabolic disease such as paraprotein disorders, diabetes,  or from nerve compression, of the nerve roots or in the spinal canal.  The only way to determine the cuase is to get a physical exam.

Possible CT Syndrome: Your symptoms suggest pinched nerve at wrist which is called carpal tunnel syndrome. See a neurologist. You need ncv/emg.

Tylenol (acetaminophen) ES: 500 mg of tylenol (acetaminophen) until you see your doctor.  Take it up to 4 times a day.

Not normal, see doc: The symptoms your describe are not normal. They are concerning for a rheumatologic issue or a nerve entrapment type syndrome. Please see your doctor about this. Good luck.
