RSV infection: None of these are useful and in fact can be harmful for a young infant. Whatever you do or not, cough from RSV infection in an infant lasts several weeks. You can use saline nasal sprays with bulb suction for blocked noses.

Sinus infections: A humidifier can help but i actually recommend that people use a sinus irrigation kit. A popular variety is the neti pot by neilmed.

Both: A vaporizer or humidifier are interchangeable, in that they both produce extra moisture to help keep the secretions in the throat moist so they can be removed more easily from the throat.

No: Humidifiers are fine for replacing the moisture in your environment that is lost when the heat is on.They don't have to mist to be effective.It is part of the Furnace system in the North,where the heat is on for months but not in Texas.We actually advise against heated mist because the heater is a hazard, and all mist cools before it reaches you.

Post nasal drip: all year round, all the meds you mentioned and the  humidifier may control inflammation / congestion some, but won't treat infection, may be something else in your surroundings is irritating your airways, e.g. a pet, however, you need to see a specialist: an ENT or an allergist / immunonlogist, check aaaai.org or acaai.org for an allergist in your area, best wishes

Infant coughs: Yes, post-nasal drip can cause cough in an infant. Certainly bronchiolitis is common in infants, but to diagnose a physical exam needs to be done. This past year, the benefit of nebulizers for bronchiolitis has been called into question. The only way to tell if your child would benefit from bronchodilators is to visit the pediatrician where they can give a trial neb treatment to see if it helps.

You probably need ..: A dehumidifier rather!! For environmental control, as you may have allergy triggers that thrive in humidity. You can still humidify your upper airways with saline nasal washes and salt water gargles, till you see your doctor or an allergist to sort your chronic problem out, check aaaai.org or acaai.org for an allergist in your area, good luck

Either: Humidifier puts out cool mist. Vaporizer puts out steam. Both add humidity to air.  Humidifier is safer to use than vaporizer as vaporizer uses boiling hot water- risk for burns if knocked over. Both need to be cleaned thoroughly to prevent accumulation of mold in apparatus.
