Use multiple cultures: It would be healthier to use a probiotic product that contains multiple cultures instead of one.  Get a probiotic with at least 25 - 50 Billion colony forming units of at least 5 different cultures.  Believe it or not it's not hard to find and you can get it in one capsule.  Try your local health food store.

i have recurring bv. i started taking acidophilus just because right before bv started recurring (3-4 caps daily) can too much acidophilus cause bv?

No confirmed data: BV in theory occurs when healthy lactobacillus germs commonly found in the vagina are displaced by aggressive bacteria. Efforts to replace these beneficial germs with oral supplements are promoted as a useful add on to common treatments. So far, it has not been shown to have a predictable benefit. Suffice it to say it might be helpful for some. Too much/too little=unknown.

Yes: They do not interfere with one another. However, the antibiotic may kill off many of the acidophilus colonies making them less potent.

Probiotics R 4 colon: "pro"-biotics are good organisms for your colon (unlike "anti"-biotics which kill bacteria) & include: lactobacillus, acidophilus, bifidobacter, sachromyces boulardes, to name a few.  Most are available over-the-counter & need to be taken daily to maintain the probiotic organism population.  Benefits include: less gas, regulated bowels, prevent infections, improve digestion, decrease inflammation.

i drink wine 2-4 a week n once every other month i get diarrhea, also i hv acid reflux almost daily. both better w/acidophilus ?

DGL is used to: help with acid reflux and is a safe supplement.  If you take licorice that is not DGL, over time it can raise your blood pressure.  Please consult w/your doc.  Peace and good health.

Treatable: It will not hurt to take a probiotis. I highly recommend it. See your Gyn about Boric Acid treatment. Works everytime.

Why thrush?: An important aspect of this is to define the reason for thrush. There is always a reason, usually antibiotic or cortisone-type inhaler. You can use it once. Not for a long period because it may cause serious high blood levels of some meds.

Acidophilus: is a good probiotic but you you receive greater heal by taking a brand of probiotic that has several strains of probiotics in it, not just one. Acidophilus: is a good probiotic and can help keep balance w/your gut flora.  As long as you have no side-effects you can take it as long as you like as protection from imbalance.  This may not be necessary if you have a balanced lifestyle of food, rest, exercise, etc.  Gut imbalance can impact not only physical health but also mood.  Peace and good health.

No best time: I don't think it makes any difference when they are taken--nor is there a limit.
