i've been having these mild cases of bladder infection for the past few months. could there be something going on with my kidneys?

Good bladder hygiene: Women are very prone to bladder infections if they are not strict with their hygiene. Follow these guidelines and it should help decrease &amp; hopefully eliminate .  bladder infections: 1) drink plenty of plain water ( 2 qts) daily 2) limit sodas to two 12 oz drinks per day 3) make sure that you are wiping front to back when wiping after urinating 4) wear cotton panties instead of synthetic underwear

finished cipro (ciprofloxacin) yesturday, i still have mild pain in rt kidney (was in both and bladder) and mild bladder pain. must i recheck?

Accepted Answer

Yes, treatment: could be incomplete or you might have infection with a new resistant bacterium.  Get back to your doctor.

i have been diagnosed with mild calyceal dilation in right kidney suggesting hydronephosis, a 4mm calculus at ureter bladder junction. is this serious?

Accepted Answer

Probably not: A Stone in the ureter can cause back pressure in the kidney which results in dilation of the collecting system. The kidney can tolerate this for relatively short periods of time however if this continues it can damage the kidney. I would suggest you consult a urologist.

35y male military overseas seen by german dr. 6mm kidney stone @bladder-urethera uvt, after dr. couldn't stone in kidney or bladder. he immediately did trus. after the trus i notice bleeding 6 hours later still bleeding with mild pain. normal or/not?

: You should see your primary care physician to rule out an urinary tract infection. Your doctor may suggest an abdominal X-ray or CT to assess the location of your kidney stone.

urologist saw mild dilation of right kidney and ordered a ct just to be cautious.had a cytoskopy right before,was normal,bladder was full.howconcered?

Not sure: Cystoscopy generally looks at the Bladder, to see if normal and/or any polyps.  By "full" right kidney....it may be referring to a dilated ureter to that kidney,.... however, with this wording I'm uncertain as to if they saw a larger than average kidney.  As they say a picture is worth 1000 words.  I would see if I could get the full report.

both kidneys show slightly thick renal sinuses. 13x15mm cyst with irregular wall and internal echoes at the lower pole in peri-medullary location.  urinary bladder is thick walled (7mm) only mild back pain and nothing else. what report say?

: What was the reason you had the ultrasound done? The kidney cyst is not a pure simple cyst. If you do not have a history of blood in the urine (hematuria), you can have the ultrasound repeated in 6 months. If hematuria is present , CT scan of the kidneys with IV contrast should be done. Slightly thick renal sinuses are not important. Thick bladder wall can be caused by previous bladder infection.

Your : Your right flank pain does not fit in with the side effect profile of Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) (see link to website below).  You should see your doctor to discuss your pain - i don't want you to just assume it's the Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) when it could be something more serious such as a kidney stone.

54 year old male non smoker, had a uti plus passed a kidney stone in the past 10 days. urologist did a ct urogram to check for more stones, only thing found was "mild bladder wall thickening", have microscopic hematuria, what are the odds of cancer?

: Mild bladder wall thickening is expected if you had a UTI recently. Microscopic hematuria can be present along with the inflammation although you have been treated and recovered. You should have a urinalysis repeated in January or February. You should only concern if hematuria persists. However, there are different causes of hematuria other than bladder cancer.

i have a 5mm stone that is stuck in the ureter, just outside the bladder. it has caused mild hydronephrosis and hydro-ureter. i have no pain at all, just a slight "awareness" in my lower back.

Stone: I would suggest you see a urologist as soon as possible. Any hydronephrosis is not good - it may lead to infection, kidney dysfunction. Size of stone is immaterial - its the effects it is causing that matters.
