Biopsy: If your nodules have grown that much they need to be biopsied. You also should be on replacement brand name T4 to reduce the stimulation to thyroid and nodule enlargement. If you had half your thyroid removed because it was having trouble and forming nodules, removal of one half of it only made your thyroid's job more difficult and problem with accelerate without replacement.

Less than one inch: One inch is 2.54 cm, so your mass is a little less than one inch in diameter.  You should have it biopsied at your earliest convenience, along with thyroid blood tests.

Nonspecific: A 6 mm thyroid nodule is small.  We usually do not worry about nodules under 10 mm.  A diffusely heterogeneous thyroid is commonly seen in patients with hashimoto's thyroiditis.  This is an autoimmune disorder that can result in an underactive thyroid.  You list being on immunosuppressive therapy.  If you have one autoimmune disorder, you are at higher risk for another.

Fna: I would have your doctor order a fine needle aspiration of the nodule, this will allow better evaluation of the mass and give cells for the pathologist to examine.

Needs biopsy: An endocrinologist needs to be involved in the care of your son.  Depending on the appearance of these nodules, they may want to biopsy them with a fine needle.  Most nodules are benign, but it is important to make sure it is not a cancer.

Suspicious: You should be guided by an endocrinologist as to further testing which will include a fna biopsy. Sometimes it is just best to remove a solid nodule of this large size.

i had an ultrasound of thyroid in that its showing bialateral midly heterogeneous lobes od thyroid gland and no mass lession in either lobe of thyroid gland but my blood work shows normal levels and my doc said no need to take medicine please help?
