My 12 yo's thyroid sono came back w/3 nodule- each >1cm: 1)slightly hypoechoic heterogeneous, 2)heterogeneously isoechoic w/internal vascularity 3) hetergenously hypoechoic w/in gland. how bad is it?

Needs biopsy: An endocrinologist needs to be involved in the care of your son. Depending on the appearance of these nodules, they may want to biopsy them with a fine needle. Most nodules are benign, but it is important to make sure it is not a cancer.

Probably not: This most likely represents benign findings but one of the nodules should be biopsied.
