Any!!: Hoarseness of the voice  (dysphonia) is related to your voice box food should not affect it if you have a sore throat food with a soft consistency are preferred.

What you like/See MD: Foods will not alter the course of sore throat. You may wish to see your doctor to make sure that you do not have a bacterial infection that could be treated with antibiotics, and prevent other complications that may occur with strep throat infection.

Small portions often: The key is smaller, more frequent feedings & burping your infant frequently during & after feedings. Keeping your baby sitting upright after feedings is often useful. You should avoid feeding caffeine & peppermint  or any carbonated drinks. Cow milk formula or even cow milk in a breast-feeding mom's diet can trigger infant reflux. Your pediatrician may recommend other anti-reflux strategies also.

It : It sounds like you must have had a prior ENT evaluation as it appears that you have the diagnosis of nodules.  If you are having persistent hoarseness it would be prudent to contact the ENT physician again.  Persistent hoarseness can be a sign of overuse of the voice (for example in individuals who have to talk loudly or often on their jobs), but can also be caused by other, more serious concerns, and the ENT may need to perform a scope or other testing to further evaluate your symptoms.

Rest: Your best bet is rest and not using voice and speaking as little as possible. But anti inflammatories like Ibuprofen can help. If more serious then cortisone can help too. Drink cold fluids too. But if symptoms not improving see your doctor for sure.

Well done: Congratulations on quitting smoking.  You've made the best decision you can make to ensure good health in the future.  It is not unusual to have some symptoms like this after you quit, but these could also be symptoms of a viral or bacterial infection on your throat.  If symptoms don't get better in the a few days, see your Dr.

Not really: hoarseness associated with a total thyroidectomy is usually related to either injury to or inflammation around the recurrent laryngeal nerve. It can be up to 10% risk of either temporary or permanent nerve damage. All the literature suggests that the most important factor in deciding a surgeon is volume. I only send my patients to high volume thyroid surgeons.

Aspiration: Usually, when we choke, we don't actually let the food into the lungs.  On rare occasion, it can happen though.  Concerning symptoms include continuing cough, fevers and chest pains.  Food in the lungs is always bad news.  Seek the care of a hospital/center that can evaluate you for this. Aspiration pneumonia is a VERY SERIOUS matter.

Best let the doc...: ...Decide. They know what they are looking for and how best to look for it. You shouldn't tell your plumber how to fix the leaky faucet (other than to do quality work), so i wouldn't try to micro-manage your doctor. First decide if you want to have the test (after hearing the risks, benefits, and alternatives), then let the doctor decide how to do it. Don't tie his/her hands.
