Is a flexible or rigid laryngoscope best (& must it have camera?) to assess lpr with lowered, fatigued, hoarse voice & throat & speaking pain ?

Best let the doc...: ...Decide. They know what they are looking for and how best to look for it. You shouldn't tell your plumber how to fix the leaky faucet (other than to do quality work), so i wouldn't try to micro-manage your doctor. First decide if you want to have the test (after hearing the risks, benefits, and alternatives), then let the doctor decide how to do it. Don't tie his/her hands.

Rigid is best: Rigid video stroboscopy is the best exam for a laryngeal examination. The high end flexible, distal chip scopes (kaypentax) give excellent images and are better tolerated than a rigid exam because they are done through the nose and not through the mouth (more gag). If you are asking these types of questions, you probably should see an ENT who specializes in voice - a laryngologist.
