What you like/See MD: Foods will not alter the course of sore throat. You may wish to see your doctor to make sure that you do not have a bacterial infection that could be treated with antibiotics, and prevent other complications that may occur with strep throat infection.

Depends on cause : tart (lemon)/menthol/ginger cough drops can soothe soreness/hoarseness by saliva or decreased pain. If persistent/severe or red flags like blood, fever, nausea, neck lymph nodes and pus on tonsils, may need swab test for Strep throat/possible antibiotics, evaluation for acid reflux, reduce voice strain (such as singer) etc by gastroenterologist/otolaryngologist. Avoid alcohol-containing gargles
