i have a test result showing (a hvs wet prep ) wbc of 8-10 hpf ,yeast (+) ,epith cells (++) and a culture that yielded c-albican and coli specie. please what could be the possible vaginal infection ?

: If you're having symptoms (primarily vaginal itching and irritation, perhaps discharge), these results suggest a yeast infection. If so, or if uncertain, discuss treatment with your doctor. She might suggest one of the many over-the-counter treatments with active ingredient ending in "azole" (miconozole, terconazole, etc) or single dose oral fluconazole (Diflucan®). Good luck.

: You have a yeast infection (Candida albicans). Whether or not it needs treatment depends on whether or not you have symptoms, like vulvar itching and irritation. If so, you should be treated for it. If not, probably it doesn't matter. Discuss with your doctor.

i have had a low wbc for the past year which my dr has repeated several times (3.4, 2.5, 3.3, 3.0, 3.0, 3.5, 3.2). anc usually between 1.5-1.8. my dr thinks it might be due to truvada for prep. is this likely the cause?

: Truvada can cause low neutrophil count but I wonder how often you have used PrEP. If you are black, WBC is usually low and above 3K is quite common.

WBC's: Not very many white blood cells are seen on the slide.

Nothing: All women have a few white cells on smear. A wet mount was evidently performed also, perhaps to look for garnerella or trichomonas. This is just a notation to let folks know that we did look under the microscope, and if we didn't make a note of anything worrisome, be glad. Best wishes.

what are the chances i have trichonomas if wet mount was neg for wbc or trichonomads (but positive for bv) and the concerned partner had a negative trichonomas rna test a few weeks after encounter?

: Low chance but not zero. Wet mount examination misses at least half of all trichomonas infections; and as you may know, trich and BV symptoms and discharge are almost identical to one another. Absence of WBC suggests trich is absent and so does your partners negative RNA test. But you also need an RNA (or DNA) test to be 100% certain.

: It is best to discuss the report with your clinician who is able to provide the appropriate management. There is no healing provided by worrying so it is better avoided. The test report suggests bacteria overgrowth in your vagina and though you did not indicate what symptoms warranted the test, the suggestion of bacteria vaginosis that is treatable or it most likely nothing without symptoms.

Further testing: WBC indicate inflammation as well as infection. A wet prep should not be the only test done to evaluate vaginal discharge. Gonorrhea, Chlamydia and Trichomoniasis testing should be done. Typically yeast and bacterial vaginosis testing are also done

Possible: This wet mount is NOT diagnostic. Your symptoms and a culture is necessary. Your Primary Care Provider may treat you with a "mixed formula" (Anti Yeast/Bacterial) Vaginal Cream or Suppository HOWEVER if you have an active sexual partner an EXACT Diagnosis is necessary to eliminate passing  an infection back and forth.

Elevated WBCs: Elevations of the WBC count are common. Normal is < 11, 000-13, 000, depending on the lab. Viral infections, stress, trauma, medications can all cause elevations without any specific symptoms. In the vast majority of cases of elevated WBC there is nothing seriously wrong, unless they go above 30, 000. The exception is leukemia, where the WBC count can go steadily up and cause no symptoms in the early.
