Foreign body: If you think you have a foreign body, you should see an eye doctor to remove it if it does not come out with frequent artificial tears.

two weeks ago i had swelling of the eyelid. it went away 2-3 days later. now the corner of my eye keeps scabbing after each time washing my face. why!

One eyelid or two?: Unilateral swelling needs to be investigated. Look for underlying symptoms. Has your thyroid been checked? What other medical, eye, skin, environmental allergy conditions do you have? If it peels, have your doctor look at it and advise, refer to eye doctor too as corner scabbing isn't normal. They will view it under a slit lamp microscopy and diagnose it properly for treatment.

Watch antibacterial: soap you are washing with, as triclosan is a toxic substance in it plus alcohol  is drying. So if you r touching your eyelids, you may be causing an eczematous dermatitis to occur. U need to make sure u aren't overwashing ur hands! Speak to ur PCP, as there are other ways to manage this! Your eye doctor will help with eyelid eczema, but you may need psychiatrist to help with excessive handwashing.

Warm compresses: Requires many weeks, otherwise there is medicine you can take by mouth, Minocin (minocycline) or Doxycycline that also take time to resolve the style.

Usually ok: In an emergency, you might have to put water directly from the faucet onto your eye.  If not an emergency, you can carefully wash your hands and then splash water that you catch in your hands onto your eyes.

No: Washing your eyes with water will not harm your eyes, as long as you use clean water that is not too warm.

Probably ok: If you have no eye irritation or inflammation by now, you are likely ok.  But if any blurred vision develops, you will need to see an eye doctor .

Artificial tears: Use a large bottle of artificial tears to thoroughly irrigate the eye.  If vision is blurry or the eye remains painful, then see the eye doctor.  Be careful not to rub the eye.  The non preserved artificial tears are the best because they do not cause as much irritation.  The eye doctor can insure that there is no abrasion or other damage.  They can even give you something to ease the pain.

i have a pricking sensation in my eye.. the sought you have wen a small stone goes into ones eye... i tried washing my eye but still it's prickly.

Abrasion?: The prickly sensation suggests that you ocular surface is not completely smooth.  Something could have gotten in your eye, or there may be a scratch. Your eyes may even be dry. If it persists, you should see your eye md.
