i have a navicular stress fracture, should it be cast? does it depend on severity? i have an eating d which caused it- i usually walk 8 hours (cut down to 4). i can't stop walking so a dr said it should be cast to stop me walking or it won't heal???

: When weight-bearing the navicular bone cannot be avoided. Yes this should be cast especially if the fracture in is intra articular. If joint involved there are no options allow to heal or you will have a problem rest of life

Varies: A stress fracture occurs when the stresses that are placed on the bone overcome the bones ability to remodel after injury.  The treatment is really based upon the level of activity that created it and the degree of discomfort associated with it.  It can vary from simply cutting activities back somewhat, to a cast and crutches.  Thank you for the question.

Let  me explain: Having pain means you still having problem. I would advise you to have MRI on the foot to see if the bone healed and if you have other issues.
Stress fracture on the base of that bone is not very commonly seen.

stress fracture in leg and twisted my ankle a month back. cast is now removed, but there is substantial swelling at foot area. is this normal?

Post cast Edema ?: Swelling after the cast is removed is quite common. It is known as post cast edema. Swelling is actually due to the cast's long term effect on the lymphatic vessels. Some edema might also be due to the actual damage to the soft tissue at the ankle level. Treatment with elevation, compression stockings and physical therapy would help stem the tide.

Normal: It is normal to still have swelling and bruising after a fracture.  If the swelling has increased/continued and is causing significant discomfort please go to your doctor,urgent care, or ER for cast removal.  The increased swelling constricts the ankle in the cast and can cause circulation issues/tissue damage.

Stress fracture: No. A Long leg cast is not the standard treatment for a stress fracture. It is standard of care to confirm diagnosis with xray and/or MRI

i recently started working as a server and ive noticed that the middle part of the inside of my feet hurt really bad after work. ive had stress fractures before and hurt one of my feet a couple months ago. what could it be thats causing the pain?

Need imaging: Given your history of stress fractures, you need to see your doctor who can do advanced imaging to make sure you haven't developed stress fracture in your foot.  There are other conditions that can cause foot pain in the arches, such as plantar fasciitis.  Plantar fasciitis is due to inflammation, is worsened at the start and after activity.  Treatment: rest, ice, nsaids, heel/arch support inserts
