highly variable: Muscle pain can last moments or months. The hallmark of DVT is asymmetric swelling. Get a tape measure and carefully determine the diameter of your calf at the same level on both sides - if they're not about the same, you need an ultrasound.

Ibuprofen: The ideal treatment for varicose veins is a venous reflux exam to look for leaking valves which are the source of the varicose veins.  Correcting the varicose veins with a laser closure procedure would be the treatment of choice.  Ibuprofen would help to soothe vein pain but you should see vein specialist for a full venous evaluation and to see why your veins are hurting you.

Possibilities...: Could just be a ruptured vein, which wouldn't be at all bad, or possibly an infection called superficial thrombophlebitis, which may require treatment. Malfunctioning vein: Reflux just means that when you had the test bloodflow was forced back down toward your foot. This is usually a valve issue in the vein. Your doctor can give you treatments for this.

Get a physical: This is difficult to tell from your description. You really need a complete history and physical due to the systemic nature of your complaints.

Burst vein: It is possible that your varicose vein made some small capillary vein fragile and burst open, and curse the discoloration, that the body eventually absorbed the blood and start diminishing in size.

It may: Alcohol consumption leads to dehydration which may lead to water retention in the body and hence swelling of the feet and ankle. Not sure how much beer you are drinking, but may want to decrease consumption.

Distention : Ur stretching the veins when sitting in same position for long time. This causes pain. Treatment is to elevate ur legs or compression as u have found out.
