Not sure: The string of pearls how we describe the ultrasound appearance of PCOS. This is an ultrasound finding and does not definitively mean someone has polycystic ovarian syndrome. Premarin (conjugated estrogens) is not a typical treatment for PCOS. Birth control pills, testosterone blockers, Progesterone like drugs and metformin are sometimes used to control the symptoms.

i'm 22. i have pcos less than 5 cysts, no free fluid. the report says, "ovaries showing increased stromal echogenecity". what does that mean? thanks.

Radiology: That's just "radiology talk" describing how bright/dark the non-cystic parts of the ovary are on us&gt; it isn't either good or bad, don't worry.

Could be: If your periods are regular and you don't have the other signs and symptoms of PCOS, these are probably normal functional cysts. Several eggs begin to develop each month. One becomes the dominant follicle and that is the one that goes on to ovulate. The others just atrophy and go away. Occasionally there will be 2 dominant follicles that ovulate and can result in fraternal twins. Hope this helps.

Yes: 50% of women with pcos have ovarian cysts and the other half don't.  Most will have irregular cycles lasting greater than 38 days or they don't menstruate on a regular basis at all.

i have pcos.just got my pelvis ultrasound results.everything is normal.my ovaries show small functional follicular cysts. what does it mean?

Normal finding: That is a totally normal description for ovaries in a person who has periods/ is of child-bearing age.  The small follicles is good because it may indicate that your pcos is under control.

Normal for you: Polycystic  ovaries, means you have tendency to form many small ovarian cysts, this can delay normal ovulation.  Also delayed or absent periods. Monitoring is correct plan. Fertility can be decreased if not treated.

Unlikely cancer: At the age of 21, having ovarian cancer would be really unlikely. And PCOS is not associated with ovarian cancer either. However, PCOS is not healthy and is something that you should see a doctor for and consider starting oral contraceptive pills which actually have been known to decrease your risk of ovarian cancer

recently had vag ultrasound. result: multiple nabothian cysts. left ovary almost double in size with 2.9 cm cyst. no sig free fluid. help?  cancer?

Pelvic ultrasound: Nabothian cysts are a benign incidental finding, not cancer.  If the ovary is enlarged only because of the presence of a cyst, and it is a simple cyst, likely nothing to worry about.
