Not likely: Polycystic ovarian syndrome is a bit of a misnomer, one needn't have a 'cyst' to have the diagnosis. Having said that, a lot of women have paraovarian cysts without PCOS, as well. PCOS is more of an endocrine disorder, than a problem with cysts. Women with PCOS often dont' have a period, and can have excess testosterone, excess estrogen and increased risk for diabetes.
