TMJ derangement: Disc displacement with reduction is characterized by displacement of the disc usually in an anterior position upon closing and return of the disc to a more normal position on opening. Patients will usually experience a "click" or "pop". Disc displacement with reduction is not usually accompanied by pain that most patients are able to adapt to the dysfunction.
Consult with orofacial pain specialist.

i've been having a clicking noice in the ear when i open my mouth and move the jaws sideways is it tmj? what treatment can i take for it?

Yes,see your dentist: The TMJ is a ball and socket on each side of the jaw. In many ways, it is just like an arm in the shoulder socket. There is a o ring between the bones called cartilage. The popping comes from the cartilage being 'rubbed' a little too hard. Clicking noises occur when the bone hits bone. Physical therapy may help initially but ultimately a trip to the oral surgeon may be necessary.

i have an occasional minor pain and/or 'click' in my left jaw where it hinges under my ear. i sometimes take aleve for this and it goes away. it's something that can be irritating when i'm eating. is this a strain or teeth alignment issue?treatment?

Sounds very much: like you have early TM (Tempro-mandibular) joint malfunction. You need to have a referral to a Dental Specialist or you own Dentist may be able to Diagnose and Treat!

TMJ is source: Temporomandibular joint is where the jaw bone connects with the skull, and clicking comes from this site.  If associated with pain in the area, grinding of teeth  during sleep  see an oral surgeon or dentist for help.

TMJ: Tmj (temporomandibular joint disorder)  you should be examined my an oromaxillofacial surgeon to evaluate what management is best for you.

TMJ: See a dentist that treats TMJ.  An occlusal bite guard will be made for you.. Soft diet is best.  No gum chewing. Ibuprofen, if this is safe for you every 6 hours will help the pain and inflammation.

ive had a locked jaw/tmj? for years now and havent sought treatment because it wasnt too bothersome. are there any at-home treatments?

Locked jaw/TMJ: Sounds like you may have a disc out of position. There are exercises/meds/biofeedback that will not cure, but may help you feel better. You might benefit from a splint, an occlusal orthotic. Ask your Dentist for referral to practitioner in your area with expertise in treating joint dysfunction. Proper diagnosis and proper treatment require expertise.

since that military wont let you enlist with othor treatment im planning to not wear retainers. will my jaw shift even worse from when i began treatment or would it just stop automatically when it gets to the point?

Ortho Retainers: Failure to wear your retainers can result on relapse, meaning your teeth will slowly move back to where they started before treatment. You are not in active treatment by wearing your retainers, you are in the retention phase. I cannot see the military not enlisting a recruit because they wear a retainer.

?: What do you mean by twisted jaw?  Did you get hit or have trauma to the jaw?  You need to see your doctor for examination. If the jaw is off its anatomical position there is good treatment

I suggest that: You see an otolaryngologist. After making a diagnosis he/she might want to try a ventilation tube.
