Yes,see your dentist: The TMJ is a ball and socket on each side of the jaw. In many ways, it is just like an arm in the shoulder socket. There is a o ring between the bones called cartilage. The popping comes from the cartilage being 'rubbed' a little too hard. Clicking noises occur when the bone hits bone. Physical therapy may help initially but ultimately a trip to the oral surgeon may be necessary.

Clicking OK: Having popping or clicking noises in the TMJ is not necessarily a problem. Many people experience these noises. As long as you do not have any pain or limitation of function the noise itself is not an issue.

See your dentist: Your symptoms sound TMJ oriented but you need an evaluation by someone well versed in TMJ tharapy. If your dentist does not feel qualified he/she will recommend a therapist to you. Good luck.
