OTC pain meds: Work pretty well. Alternate Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen  taking care not to exceed the newly revised daily maximum for either med. If it persists more than 2-3 days, schedule an exam and get it looked it, just to be sure.

Difficult : Difficult to tell what those bumps might be sight unseen. Have you been to a dentist recently?

Your wisdom tooth may be putting pressure in that area, causing discomfort when you swallow. Also, your molar may be chipped, causing an irritation on your tongue. This can also manefest itself as pain on swallowing.

If you get checked out by a dentist and it is not tooth related, then see your physician.

Visit a doctor: You must visit either your dentist or ENT. I recommend to start with the dentist as he can complete a oral cancer screening in the office and generally dentist are able to identify many illness. If you do not have a dentist picked out, don't wait please go to an ENT specialist

does this look like leukoplakia? i've recently noticed a small white patch on the right side of my tongue. it doesn't hurt, but i've been reading up on what it might be, and leukoplakia seems like the best answer, which has me kind of worried.

Leukoplakia : Leukoplakia is a clinical term to describe a white patchy presentation on tissues.  This is not a tissue diagnosis and my represent something as simple and benign as a callous like lesion from trauma to something more ominous like cancer.  The presence or absence of pain is not always a good indicator of the nature of the problem.

I recommend that you scheduled an examination with a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon or oral medicine specialist who can examine you and determine if a biopsy (taking a tissue sample for analysis) is warranted.

Sore throat: The commonest cause would be an early viral infection which may develop into a head cold. If the sore throat worsens instead of improving over the next day or two, a throat culture to check for strep would be needed. In the meantime, gargle with warm salt water and suck on lozenges which sooth the inflamed throat.
