Difficult : Difficult to tell what those bumps might be sight unseen. Have you been to a dentist recently? Your wisdom tooth may be putting pressure in that area, causing discomfort when you swallow. Also, your molar may be chipped, causing an irritation on your tongue. This can also manefest itself as pain on swallowing. If you get checked out by a dentist and it is not tooth related, then see your physician.

The : The tongue contains several areas known as papillae. They are normal bumbs each having a function. Located on the back part of the tongue are lingual tonsils. I've had a number of patient's that had swelling in that area. Without seeing you clinically, it is to to have a definitive answer. Any changes in the back of the tongue should be taken seriously and evaluated by a dentist or oral surgeon.

There : There are many factors that could be causing this from unerupted wisdom teeth or another sharp object rubbing against your tongue, to swollen tonsils causing a sore throat to a canker sore or some other random thing. Get it checked out by your dentist.
