A member asked:

I have sore red bumps on the back right side of my tongue. it now hurts whenever i swallow. what is the cause?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sore throat: The commonest cause would be an early viral infection which may develop into a head cold. If the sore throat worsens instead of improving over the next day or two, a throat culture to check for strep would be needed. In the meantime, gargle with warm salt water and suck on lozenges which sooth the inflamed throat.
