You would likely: Feel it if caught in throat. Usually there isn't a problem if gum is swallowed. However, there are rare cases of chewing gum bezoars which have occurred causing esophageal ; intestinal obstruction.

Have a warm drink: Take a warm drink that would loosen the gum if it still there and take it down with it. Swallowing chewing gum, while not recommended, is not likely to cause any harm.

Very unlikely: What you are feeling in most likely related to post-nasal drip from your sinuses. It would be almost impossible for gum to be stuck in the throat of an overall healthy adult for several days. If problem does not resolve with in another 1-2 days or worsens than see your doctor for an evaluation to rule out strep throat or some other cause.

i've recently swallowed 3 pieces of chewing gum. the night after i swallowed the gum, when sleeping, i felt discomfort in my throat so i started swallowing and i felt chest pain when i swallow. i also feel like something is going up when i swallow?

: Hard to know for sure what to make of your symptoms. Usually swallowing gum does not cause any issues whatsoever, and the gum eventually passes through your stool. If your swallowing issues remain persistent, see your primary doctor. Good luck.

Gargle; see ENT: If you truly have a foreign body stuck in throat then ENT doc may be able to fish it out. If it only feels that way ("globus sensation"), ENT exam will be able to evaluate and start rx. Sometimes, globus sensation is due to stress, sometimes due to acid reflux, other.

Ear-throat pain: More likely pain caused by a bacterial or viral infection.Call you General Physician and report your symptoms. Your Gp will be able to direct you.

TMD: Also known as temperomandibular dysfunction is a condition when jaw joint discomfort follows hard use. Chewing gum vigorously may be taxing your tmj beyond its comfort zone. I see this almost daily but the sore throat component is not as common. Perhaps you are reacting to the gum flavoring. Chew less often, more gently, and try a different flavor of sugar free gum to see if your symptoms diminish

Definite possibility: If this happens repeatedly, and/or with a specific brand/flavor of gum I think it would be safe to make the assumption you may have a mild allergy to it. Depending on how long you've experienced this and if you can narrow it down to more specifics and reoccurence,I would either just make a rule to avoid that gum, OR you could choose to have a specialist take a look at you as well (ENT) for opinion
