TMD: Also known as temperomandibular dysfunction is a condition when jaw joint discomfort follows hard use. Chewing gum vigorously may be taxing your tmj beyond its comfort zone. I see this almost daily but the sore throat component is not as common. Perhaps you are reacting to the gum flavoring. Chew less often, more gently, and try a different flavor of sugar free gum to see if your symptoms diminish

Tension headache: Very common, when excessive gum-chewing -induced TMJ, which may cause tension type headaches and sore throat. You should avoid the habit of constant chewing.
