i popped a stye on my outer lower eyelid after using hot compresses and it came to a head now it is really swollen how do i get the swelling to go dow?

Warm compresses: Continue to use warm compresses regularly, but if it doesn't improve or if the swelling or redness worsens, you should see your doctor.  Worsening redness, swelling, increased warmth and pain could indicate an eyelid infection called periorbital cellulitis, which would require antibiotic treatment.

i have a stye on lower eyelid. now there is a red bump that looks like a bubble. no pus. hurts?

: Prob beginning of infected cyst. Suggest seeing either your dermatologist or eye doc for eval and possible treatment. Good idea to soak or compress area with warm water before seeing the doc.

Ice pack: the redness will go away in a short while. Just put a cold compress or ice pack on your closed eye for relief

can i wear new mascara on my upper eyelashes when my internal stye is under my lower eyelid?

Accepted Answer

Best to avoid it: With a stye, on top or bottom, it is best to avoid all eye make-up as blinking can transfer some meds to the lower lid easy enough and may worsen the area, etc. Get treated, then once resolved, you can start wearing make-up as instructed by you Dr. best wishes.

Normal: As the acute phase of a stye resolves, there may be some residual scar tissue that will remodel over time; however, the infection that causes a stye may wax and wane, so, if it persists, you may want to have an ophthalmologist take  a look.

i have a stye on my lower eyelid. i am a truck driver's wife, am in the truck. no access to warn compresses or any meds til fri still wear contacts?

Contact wear OK: Styes are in the substance of the lid and the infection they contain will only leak onto the eye if they are very large, pus filled and leak.  Most are small and cannot interact with a contact, so you may wear yours.  If the eye gets red, painful, or the vision changes, then remove the lens until you get an evaluation.

i have had a mild stye for 3 days now on my lower eyelid, it had stopped hurting but is itchy now. does that mean it's healing?

Inflammation: please use heat pack and wash eye lashes either with I-Lid solution or baby shampoo.  The inflammation of the lids can cause itch.

woke up this morning with bruising in corner of lower eyelid, no bites or stye, what could possibly cause this?

During Sleep: Maybe you rubbed your eye during your sleep causing the bruise.

my lower eyelid is very tender; it even hurts when i blink. i don't have a lump, so is a stye still an option? what could be the problem?

Accepted Answer

Possible stye: An inflamed oil gland can present with new pain of an eyelid with swelling sometimes without a "lump".  I would try warm compresses three times a day and see your physician if it does not improve soon.

will terramycin help my stye inside my lower eyelid?

Accepted Answer

No: The best treatment for this is to put a wash cloth under very warm (not hot) water and hold it over the lid.  Do this for 5 minutes at a time and 5 times per day.  Terramycin will not penetrate a stye;  antibiotics are not useful to treat a stye.
