Normal: As the acute phase of a stye resolves, there may be some residual scar tissue that will remodel over time; however, the infection that causes a stye may wax and wane, so, if it persists, you may want to have an ophthalmologist take a look.

Chalazion: A stye or chalazion results from an oil producing tear gland that got obstructed, then split open releasing its oil to the soft tissues in the eyelid. This can result in a hard "bump" when the inflammation resolves. If you have used hot compresses (5 min - 4 times a day) for more than a week, and it does not appear to be getting smaller, you should see an ophthalmologist. It can be removed
