Type 1 Diabetes: If you indeed have type 1 diabetes you need Insulin to control your blood sugar since you do not have the ability to make Insulin on your own.  You should discuss this with your physician.

Healthy lifestyle: There are no shortcuts for weight management in patients with type 1 diabetes.  It's always best to minimize low sugars (to avoid eating more to keep sugars up), eat healthy, exercise, and get quality sleep.  Taking Insulin is vital in this process, though amount may need to be lowered if blood sugars become too tight or low during this process. Please discuss with your doctor.

Eat less/exercise: The more one eats, the more Insulin is needed to control blood sugar. Exercise helps increase sensitivity to Insulin so that less is needed to maintain good control also.  Combining healthy eating and exercise is the safest and best way to obtain and maintain a healthy weight.

You are doing fine: and your protein intake is suitable, in diabetes in general, it is rather the carbohydrates and fats that you need to watch diligently. A dietician, if you have access to one, can help you a lot and coach you right through your diet for better control of your weight, hence your diabetes, which I believe your are taking good care of, best wishes

i am type 1 diabetess and i have coeliac disease, i have tried to cut out gluten but then my sugar drops, and i end up eating bread to stabilize it, have no energy i could sleep all day and i am picking up weight im not sure what to do ?

Gluten free bread or: You can easily raise your BS with orange juice or other non gluten products. Potatoes are another easy starch that is gluten free. Every time you consume gluten, your body is triggered to make new anti-gluten antibodies which attack your tissues. It is not a simple allergy, it is more like rheumatoid arthritis but you can avoid the triggers. Work with a dietitian with your treatment team.

Depends: I seldom recommend juices any more because I consider them little more than flavored sugar water.The potential health benefits are over sold,as you can get the nutrients in a calorie free pill.As a practical issue, a small amount of juice,as part of balanced nutrition, is fine for most, including diabetics.However, I have treated  many chubby kids who dropped 10 lb/yr by just eliminating juices.

I would: You can review the recommendations for malaria and other issues at the CDC website (updated continuously). Go to www.cdc.gov/travel/destinations. Malaria is a worrisome problem in the region &amp; generally requires meds started before travel &amp; exposure until well after exposure has stopped.

Usually high but...: If a pregnant woman has had a poorly controlled diabetes for long period of time, she is more likely to have a newborn with low birth weight.
