Unknown: At this point in time there is a lot of discussion about this topic and many who feel there may be some association but there has been no known proof of an association of Lyme disease and an elevated CA 125. CA-125: This marker is quite non-specific for cancer, particularly in pre-menopausal women. Any things that irritate the lining of the abdomen (such as cysts, endometriosis, and non-ovarian things as well) can prompt elevations in the range you have noted. Other means of screening for cancer however are also imperfect. If you are at high risk, other follow-up may be needed.

Yes!: Ca125 is a cancer marker. If elevated is something to worry , even though its not specific. If you were told to have a precancerous lesion , wherever it was, needs to be reevaluated.

Probably not but...: Here is a possibility; ca125 ( a bad screening test for ovarian cancer due to its lack of specificity) can become elevated with any inflammatory condition of  the peritoneal lining of the abdomen. If the WBC in the urine reflect a UTI or infection of the kidney then it is possible the ca125 could be elevated.

Many causes: The ca-125 blood test is very sensitive-- in many cases it is too sensitive.  In certain cases, it can be a marker of certain types of cancer.  But in other patients, a modestly elevated ca-125 is not alarming.  Visit with your doctor to better understand the details of your case.

NO: As a screening marker for ovarian cancer this test is of no use. It can be elevated in women with conditions such as endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, and uterine fibroids  to name a few. Its true utility is in monitoring for cancer recurrence.

Yes: Yes, endometriosis definitely can elevate CA-125.  CA-125 isn't a good screening marker for for ovarian cancer in younger women.  You might consider changing your demographic information because it states that you are a male and only 1 year old!

Nothing out of..: ...Context.  Ca.125 is used to follow up response to treatment in patients with cancer of the ovary but a slightly elevated level can come from non malignant causes (and it can be normal even if there is cancer). It is not considered a screening test. Whoever ordered it probably had very valid reasons to do so and i'm sure he/she can explain its implications to you in the proper context. Best 2u.

: I would ask the lab doing the testing: given my family history (or not) and my age and gender how likely is it that the results mean I have GI cancer.

i have no symptoms of ovarian cancer, an incidental blood test showed elevated ca125 of 52. this has caused be extreme anxiety. i had clear ultrasound but worried i have cancer somewhere in my body. im 25 this is making me sick with worry?
