My ca 125 blood test result slightly elevated, with a different reading 3 times, what could cause this to happen?

Many causes: The ca-125 blood test is very sensitive-- in many cases it is too sensitive. In certain cases, it can be a marker of certain types of cancer. But in other patients, a modestly elevated ca-125 is not alarming. Visit with your doctor to better understand the details of your case.

CA 125: A ca 125 is not a very accurate test. Anything that affects the lining of your abdomen (peritoneum), lung cavity (pleura), or sac around your heart (pericardium) can change the ca 125 level. This includes everything from a cold to kidney failure to cancer.
