1) advanced TMJ and muscle dysfunction - see a dentist that treats a lot of TMJ patients.
2) advanced ENT problems - see an ENT doctor.
3) various types of tumors - see an ENT doctor.
The tingling of the tongue and the roof of the mouth is usually a compression of the nerves and leading to these areas.

Sinusitis: Problems in the sinuses or nasal passageways can affect your sense of smell and taste. Conditions such as sinusitis, acute or chronic sinus infections, enlarged turbinates, deviated septum and ear infection can cause a metallic taste in your mouth. Usually treated with antibiotics, anti-allergies meds, or by surgery. Once you fix the sinuses, the metallic taste should go away. See your doctor.

: The foul taste and smell coming from the side that is tender is most likely related to an infection.  It would be important to see an ENT physician and have the region of foul smell be cultured .  There are bacteria and fungal infections that can infect our sinuses. Before treatment it’s important to know what organism  we are dealing with.

We : We like to think that sinusitis has a constellation of symptoms--the more symptoms you have, the more likely it is sinusitis.  You can have just pressure in the sinus areas (brow area, between the eyes, behind the eyes, under the eyes, etc.) but not have the congestion, pressure, post nasal drip.  This may resolve, or may progress with the addition of those symptoms.  Good luck.

Afrin and/or a decongestant may help, but doing nothing may be fine too.

Start with saline: Nasal saline rinse is one ov the most effective.  Try this first.  Can also use decongestants, like sudafed.

Sinus infection: Try rhinocort nasal spray one a day and saline nasal lavage every 2 hours. You may also need an antibiotic.

Antibiotics probably: sounds like a sinus infection, which for some people seems to always follow a viral upper respiratory problem. There are sinus cavities above and below the eye sockets, draining into the nose and down the back of the throat. Centers for Disease control recommends home treatment at first, but at 2-3 weeks consider seeing a practitioner to be assessed and possibly prescribed antibiotics.

Sinus infection: Is most likely cause. See you medical doctor or ear, nose and throat specialist for an evaluation.  If infection is present then an antibiotic may be needed.
