May persist: It is unclear but the real question is  why did you dislocate your shoulder? If you continue with the same risk you may do it again or have  some residual damage for this dislocation.  Some people have  hypermobility which puts them at risk. You need to have your physician check you risk and have you see a shoulder specialist.

Dislocated shoulder: Effects of a dislocated shoulder are that you have torn the capsular ligaments surrounding the shoulder and these need to heal first once reduced, and followed by an orthopedist. If after healing there is any instability you may need an MRI and possible arthrocopic shoulder surgery.

Rotator cuff injury: You may have a rotator cuff injury- anything from a chronic bursitis 9inflamed/irritated bursa overriding the rotator cuff), or a partial to small full thickness tear of the actual rotator cuff tendon. Seek orthopaedic surgeon evaluation. X-rays and perhaps an MRI, if indicated, along with a thorough history and examination should lead to a diagnosis and treatment plan.

See your Doc: You should have a full orthopedic evaluation.  Which may including imaging studies to assure no other damage was done. One form of damage may include a tear to the fibrous rim of the socket (or glenoid cavity). This often referred to as a slap lesion. There could be other coinciding injuries. Get it checked out.

Ask your ortho doc: If you had recent surgery it's best to discuss with your orthopedic surgeon as they often prefer to work with specific physical therapists that are familiar with their precautions/preferences etc.

Scapula: Pain localised to the scapula, in the absence of injury, is unusual. It could be referred pain from impingement of a nerve root in the lower neck intervertebral region from a disk protrusion. In view of the severity of your discomfort, I would recommend an xray of the scapula and cervical spine. Consider a consultation with a neurologist as well and bring the xray report with you.

Look elsewhere: Sometimes shoulder pain can come from other areas and be referred, such as the neck. Also sometimes pt is necessary if there are muscle imbalances and you might need work on the scapular stabilizers. Should be checked out.

in neck or back that may not show on x-ray.

Pain treatment: What is the cause of your pain?  What has your assessment shown to date?  Is this musculoskeletal, nerve pain etc?  Different types of pain can be addressed using various modality. As an acupuncturist, I advise my patients with chronic neck, shoulder, arm pain that it may take at least 12 sessions, before they are seeing strong results.

Not long: Depending on the shoulder condition and the type of physical therapy you had, the duration of pain will vary, but purely physical therapy related pain is normally short lived (1-2 days in most cases). Also, the type of pain is usually not much worse than the pain present before physical therapy. If significantly worse, you may need to seek medical attention.
