Thoracic prominence: When a person has scoliosis, or curvature of the spine, the spine can rotate as well as curve.  The rotation of the spine causes the ribs on one side of the back to elevate resulting in a prominence or rib hump.  Most of the hope will resolve if the person undergoes posterior spinal fusion to correct and fuse the deformed area of the spine.

Surgery: But, mostly this is cosmetic. Unless there is pain or the rib deformity is affecting normal function, there is no reasonable indication for surgical procedure. The "rib hump" is resected under general anesthesia with or without chest wall reconstruction. Breathing complication is a risk as well as infection. Postoperative pain is controlled with analgesics.

Hard to say: The listed surgical procedure would not prevent/preclude pregnancy. Whether or not your health is such that you can achieve and carry a pregnancy is best answered by a physician that has the benefit of a full history and exam .

Depends: If the hump is in an amenable location, surgical resection of the piece of rib can make the protruding rib shape disappear.  This is purely a cosmetic procedure, though.  You can have chronic pain after the procedure if the nerves that run under the ribs are damaged severely.  Also, many insurances will not pay for this as it is only cosmetic.  If you are still interested, check with your doctors.

Two things: 1) have a good stretching/strengthening program to keep everything balanced as possible

2) practice good osteoporosis prevention (calcium intake/weight bearing exercise/dexa scan surveillance/meds if necessary).

No: Yoga is wonderful for reaching and maintaining mental and physiological health. Rib humps secondary to scoliosis, however, are fixed and not improved by yoga unfortunately.

Possibly: Liposction is a blunt technique performed with rigid metal cannulas.  It is therefore possible for a rib to be broken or for deeper structures to be injured with liposuction.  Fortunately, this is rare.

i have an endoscopy scheduled but i fractured a rib last night. will this affect the procedure?

Rib fractures : No it should not effect the procedure. You should be monitored a little closer afterwards to make sure the pain from your rib fracture isn't keeping you from taking deep breaths.
