every year when the weather gets dry, my throat gets irritated. what differs this year, i see 5 red bumps in the back of my throat. i have no other symptoms and haven't been around others, so i ruled out major issues. could it still be allergies?

: The best way to diagnose what these red bumps are would be to have a doctor look at them. It is difficult to diagnose this without seeing them. It could certainly be due to seasonal allergies but there are other possibilities as well. The throat irritation itself could result in areas of redness. An ear nose and throat doctor could diagnose this and suggest treatment, if needed. Good luck!

Inflamation: It is not uncommon to have red bumps on the back of tongue.  However redness and bumps on the tongue and throat means inflammation.  It could be from post-nasal drainage to acid reflex.  If it last longer than a week, go to your md.  Throat irritation from acid reflex can lead to serious complications including cancer.

NO: Symptoms of HIV generally take months to years to be noticeable.

Generally, 2-4 weeks after exposure an HIV patient may experience symptoms consistent with generalized illness such as fatigue, aches cough or sore throat.  The characteristic infections associated with aids take months/years to become noticeable.

Get checked.: You don't have to have white patches to have strep.  Red bumps can be due to strep or to other things, too.  But if you have a sore throat it is always a good idea to get checked for strep to be safe.  Strep gets better without treatment, but if it is not treated, you can get rheumatic heart disease and other complications. Get seen. Better safe that sorry.

Can be a multitude: of things.  possibly infectious.  should get it checked out.  don't freak out, doesn't sound like anything too serious.

Hard to say: The back of the throat is populated by both regular tissue and scattered islands of lymphoid tissue like tiny tonsils. They are often seen as "cobblestoning" of the throat texture. Without looking at the area it is hard to say what you are describing. If there are no associated symptoms I would consider them likely normal.

Throat bumps: Bumps on the back of the throat are most commonly simple lymphoid aggregates, or small bits of tonsil-like tissue that are present throughout the throat.  They shouldn't be the cause of coughing, however.  I suspect the two are not related.  I would have you see an ENT regarding the cough, though.
