Sleep apnea?: Have you had a formal sleep study? Has your ENT suggested c-pap or bi-pap? Has your ENT suggested a uvulectomy or reduction of excess posterior phayngeal tissue?: these can all contribute to ongoing snoring. You will laso need a pulmonary medical evaluation.

Tonsil Stones: Recurrent tonsil stones or tonsiloliths are a reason for removal of tonsils. Consult with your ear nose and throat specialist to answer questions you may have about the procedure.

what would be the reason for drooling saliva a week after tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy?

Accepted Answer

Drooling: Many patients, especially children, after this surgery will avoid swallowing due to pain.  Also, surgery will cause increased inflammation in the mouuth leading to more salivation.  This will clear up after a few days.  Do not take medicines to dry things up as these increase the risk iof bleeding.

Cant urinate: Occasionally after surgery, one can develop urinary retention because of the anesthesia this is known as a neurogenic bladder and your daughter may need to be catherized.

Accreditation.: An accredited surgery center meets strict standards for safety, equipment, and staff credentials. It should be licensed by the state, and accredited by at least one of the following: JCAHO, AAAASF, and/or AAAHC. You can easily search the Internet for websites of those organizations to verify a center's credentials.

Roughly 5-10%: Most kids who have post-op bleeding following a T&amp;A don't need emergency intervention. If the bleeding is brisk, causes the child to vomit, or is associated with symptoms such as dizzy/weak/light-headed, then go to ER. Otherwise, call surgeon when office opens today and talk to the surgeon who did the surgery.

See surgeon: She needs to go back and see the surgeon, not so much for the pain, but definitely if she has now begun to bleed. Do not wait, go now and be seen.

Chronic infections, obstruction causing swallowing or  breathing trouble (sleep apnea), or enlargement causing trouble with dental occlusion.  Indications for adenoidectomy include above as well as nasal obstruction, chronic sinus or ear infections.

NEVER safe...: It is NEVER safe to expose your upper airway to carcinogens, especially when the tissue is healing.
