DDS and MD: Take your son to the dentist to determine the cause of the bad breath and take him to a physician to determine the cause of his hand tremors.  He needs to be seen personally by dental and medical professionals. You can't get the answers on the internet nor can he be treated that way.  You owe it to him and you will also feel better about yourself. Call and set up some appointments.

Indigestion: If the protein drink you are using gives you indigestion change to another protein source, , whey is most common, but there are many vegetarian sources of protein, soy, pea, rice.

No!: High protein staves off hunger, prevents hypoglycemia, prevents muscle breakdown, and is low calorie! salute! you need to make sure you are getting important vitamins, fiber, and minerals, as well as essential fats.  Avoid empty carbs-sugar, flour, etc!

Hard to say: If it's bad. It depends on what's in the protein shake (besides protein--usually from milk, soy or egg) and what else you are eating. Shakes have different ingredients, and the best ingredient to put in your body, in my opinion, is fresh, real food. This is what our bodies really need. It's good that you are taking care of your body in the gym! be sure to eat well, too.

That's a bit much.: Weight lifters and body builders only really need 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight per day.   In ten egg whites you're getting about 50 grams of protein right there. It's unnecessary for you to get this much protein in one sitting every day, and doing this leads to a very limited meal plan.  You should try to vary your lean protein sources.  And drink lots of water daily.

Not generally: In many ways they do little more than add more caloric intake to your diet. They do assure that you have available building blocks for muscle repair needed after a strenuous workout. Since you can do the same with a well balanced diet they can be a waste of money/effort.

Gas: Gas is determined on what your bacterial flora is in your gut.  You need to first change your diet to a diet that allows you gut flora to change the smell.  Special k won't do that.

Need a consult: Protein shakes are fine, but only in certain circumstances.  Some don't provide all the necessary nutrients needed to aid in immune support and health.  Some are full of a lot of "bad" fat and sugar.  I would see a doctor, if possible, and get a consultation.  Also, i would see a dentist- you may have some tooth or gum infections that will inhibit proper nutrient absorption.

None work: Protein shakes do not add muscle. Strength training does. You are wasting your time  with protein shakes unless you strength train as well.
