Pattern of pain: It may be easier to differentiate the pleuritic pain from heart attack pain.  However, it is quite difficult to differentiate between heart attack and heart spasms. Typical pleuritic pain is described as sharp pain that worsen with breathing. Commonly seen in pneumonia, viral infection, etc. Typical heart attack pain is described as pressure liked, "elephant sitting on the chest" type pain.

i have tb and is on the meds until jan 2016, is there anything else i can do to make the pleurisy pain go away?  i drink pain meds, but i am still in pain.  will the pleurisy eventually go away?

It takes time...: The pain will go away, but it can take a few weeks or even a few months for symptoms like pleurisy pain from TB to clear up, even if the infection itself is in control with antibiotics. If you've been on treatment only a brief time, things should start to improve soon. If it's been more than a couple of weeks, check back with the doctor or clinic managing your care. Good luck!

Serositis: Should get better when sle gets controlled. But it's s chronic disease so there's a chance of recurrence.

YES: however, I suggest staggering the doses by 4-6 hrs.

See below: Pleurisy can be from a viral infection, but can also be from pneumonia (bacterial), blood clots, etc.  I would recommend seeing your PCP for an xray and evaluation.

You need to be seen: and a chest X-ray or CT may be required for a diagnosis. Many possible causes of pleurisy and some of them can be serious, but most are treatable. Don't delay &amp; go see the doc. If persists, be emphatic about discovering the cause of this recurrent problem. A Pulmonary Specialist is the expert.

i have pleurisy again pain so bad makes me throw up including seizure meds tried aleve and tylenol (acetaminophen) not helping anything stronger makes me stop breath?

Call your doctor : Or go to the er. You will need stronger pain medication that requires a prescription. Further, you need to be able to control your pain so that you can take your seizure medication.  Because of this, waiting may worsen your problem.

Other symptoms: Usually on only one side of the chest, extend
 to  shoulder or abdomen.Worse when cough
 sneeze, or suddenly move.May ease with holding breath or pressing painful area. Costochondritis or inflammation of anterior rib endings sometimes can mimic pleuritis.

Maybe: Pleurisy is an inflammation of the lining of the lungs.  The pain can sometimes radiate up into the neck but this is uncommon.
