i have been on 325 mg aspirin daily for almost two years. my eosinophils have slowly been rising (now 1,300 ) & make up 15% of wbcs. hives, allergy symptoms , abnormal liver/kidney functioning. is this dress syndrome ? ext steps ? switch 2 plavix?

: You need to tell us more about your use of Aspirin and what is the reason behind its use ?necessary.
With a high Eosinophil count, drug allergy becomes a serious consideration.
You need to see an allergist and also consider stopping Aspirin unless there is a good reason to be on a blood thinner(?)

: Clopidogrel (Plavix) 75mg daily mono therapy was compared to Aspirin in the CAPRIE trial in 1996 to have a statistically significant relative risk reduction only for peripheral artery disease (8.7%). is it safe to take plavix and cymbalta (duloxetine)?  i heard that is not a good drug combination

With caution: There is a caution about combining the two agents as both can increase the risk of bleeding, by different mechanisms. This however would be true of any serotonergic antidepressant. You should discuss any concerns you have the prescribing physicians.

i started taking plavix once a day and i also take prevacid (lansoprazole) and on occasion prilosec. is there any interactions with these drugs?

Absolutely: There is a well know interaction between plavix and proton pump inhibitors.  Plavix is a prodrug(inactive) and is activated in the liver.  This process of activation is blocked by proton oump inhibitors.  Specifically with nexium and prilosec, also somewhat with other ppis.  The only one safe to use is dexilant (dexlansoprazole) and possibly protonix. Or change plavix to effient or brilinta under guidance of MD

i take plavix and eliquis. what does it mean if one of my other medications decreases the metabolisms of these drugs ? they stay in my body longer or dont convert properly. ?

: In general itis because they compete for the same enzyme receptors that breakdown another drug. Thus the effect of the other drug is greater and longer. It is simple competition for the same machine that chops certain meds up. Imagine having to get thru a hole of a certain size to get into cell to be degraded. The more of 2 things the same size Say A&amp;B the the more A around the more gets thru.

It is good if indica: Plavix (clopidogrel) has nothing to do with blood group or with asthma. It is useful as a antiplatelet(blood thinning medicine) drug. Your cardiologist would know it best if you have a cardiac or vascular problem.

after placement of four drug eluting stents two years ago i have been on plavix (clopidogrel) since and want to quit.  my cardiologist is ambivilant.  help.?

Continue for now.: Recent studies show that Plavix (clopidogrel) given for stents after 3 years, do not help anymore. If your are tolerating well without side effects, you better stay on it for now.

Clopidogrel: Clopidogrel (plavix) and Aspirin remain the primary treatment.  Effient may be used if clopidogrel fails or if genetic testing indicates that clopidogrel may not be effective.
