Accepted Answer

Both might help: Standard approaches, generically, include physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy.  Once improvement begins, exercise is next, but key to emphasize that yoga might be beneficial once muscular control has improved.  Biggest issue remains prevention of the next event.  All my best.

Abnormal: Any pain is abnormal except maybe contraction pain during delivery, but in any case not pleasant!!! I think your mom might have developed contractures (muscle shortening and atrophy) after the stroke.  It is normal for her hopefully get better with time.

had a cerebral stroke 2 yrs ago..didnt have any physical impairement.now legs tremble after walking.. does she need physiotherapy??

Most likely: The symptoms do not seem to be complications from the stroke, but rather generalized weakness and deconditioning. Physical therapy should help no matter what the cause is.

Time will tell: This depends on the nature, severity of the stroke. Ask her neurologist for more details. The physiotherapist/ PT will offer her much help in restoring function. You may want to also get a integrative medical consultant on board, who could recommend a skilled acupuncturist/ medical qigong doctor, who can assist in restoring microcirculation to the brain, to accelerate her recovery. It may take time to heal.

Time: The nervous system is a remarkable combination of fragility and resilience.  It takes time (and therapy) to recover from brain injury, and there is (unfortunately) no way of knowing how fast or how complete the recovery will be.

: In general, continuous aerobic activity for 20-30 min per day is ideal.  I can not give specific advice regarding exercise without knowing more about the severity of the heart attack, and what residual deficits remain after your stroke.

Depends: As with most things, the length of the therapy depends on the type, extent and severity of the initial injury.

Yes for many reasons: Physical therapy is an important factor in recovery from a stroke.  The brain has an amazing ability to change its "brain maps" to allow for some form of recovery.

Unfortunately, i can not answer the question whether she would walk again as I do not know enough about her past history to comment with any degree of certainty.

Surely: Use of physical therapy, and occupational therapy highly beneficial for post-stroke rehabilitation, and should be continued as outpt, at least twice weekly for about 3-4 months ideally.  Orthotic devices to enhance function may be needed, so enquire about these. Botox may help limb spasticity.  Pool assisted exercise might be an approach if patient very weakened.
