Bad causes? could be lockjaw which is fatal. So i would discuss with your Dr. in AM or go to ER. Good causes: you are cold and shivering. If so warm up.

Maxillary sinus: This sounds like congestion and/or infection of the maxillary paranasal sinus. Encourage drainage by applying heat and/or inhaling steam,irrigating the nasal passages with warm,salt water,using a nasal decongestant spray sparingly, but a course of appropriate antibiotics are probably needed.,An otolaryngologist is best qualified to evaluate and treat you.

7th nerve: This is generally caused by irritation of the facial portion of your seventh cranial nerve.  This nerve passes in front of your ear through the parotid gland and can be affected by inflammation in the parotid gland or anything that puts pressure on the side of your face.

Diet, exercise: At age 17, the skin is normally still tight. Excess tissue in the jaw area is most often from excess body weight. When an overweight patient begins to lose weight, it will be quickly become evident in the face. Eating a healthy diet and exercising will help you lose the weight.

Muscle spasm/strain: If the teeth are fine, and  no possibility of a fracture in the jawbone then this sounds like a  muscle issue. Most often  related to clenching from stress or overuse from chewing. Your closing(&some opening) muscles  are subject to spasm and strain. Hot moist compresses on the outside of the mouth and warm water soaks inside will help. Ibuprofen 400-600 mg 4 times /day for 5-7 days. Soft diet.

Tmj: You likely have tmj.  A way to tell is to open and close the jaw with a finger placed in the TMJ socket which is roughly the pocket created when one opens the mouth and places a finger directly in front of the ear canal right at the level of the sideburns.  Softer foods, warm compresses and Motrin should help. Avoid gum chewing. Other option is migraine.

Dysfunction: You have a dysfunctional TemporoMandibular Joint.  Post probably articular disc displaced.  See your Dentist.

Maybe if same side: It's worth a month of nasal steroids, nasal antihistamines, leukotriene inhibitors &amp; antihistamine plus nasal rinses to see if clearing blocked sinus will relieve your pain, assuming that clogged sinus is on same side as pain. Of course it also depends upon which sinus is affected. Maxillary sinus infection could cause tooth &amp; cheekbone pain. But wouldn't explain jaw &amp; temple, unless TMJ syndrome

Post-traumatic HA: is considered a form of secondary headache that occurs after head injury. The IHS criteria states that the onset of the headache must be within two weeks of the head injury. The HA may mimic any of the primary headache disorders such as migraine, TTH or even cluster. After imaging the  management depends upon the particular type of headache that is present.
