Very Unlikely: If your son had an umbilical (belly button) hernia, there would be a bump at the belly button that was soft and squishy. These do not commonly cause pain. He may be feeling the jarring sensation from falling so hard. Keep an eye on him and if the pain worsens over the next couple days, consider seeing his pediatrician.

Possible: Ct's do not always show hernias. It could also be a cyst. Could be a cellulitis of the deep umbilical skin.
