: There should be no detrimental effects from using a saline (salt water) spray after the expiration date. Prescription and non-description drugs must carry expiration dates by federal law. Since the saline spray has no ingredients other than salt and possibly baking soda, you should be fine. If concerned, discard what you have and purchase an unexpired product.

Talk to your doctor: You could ask your doctor to refer to an otolaryngologist. At your age, there could be treatable reasons why your nasal airway is narrowed, such as polyps, deviation of the septum or other.

Flush: Blinking and flushing your eyes with eye drops might help.  If the redness doesn't get better then it might be a good idea to get checked by an eye doctor.  I hope this helps.

Triggers: Allergic triggers such as dust,mold and pollen may cause nasal inflammation. Other irritants such as smoke and pollution also contribute. An over the counter nasal steroid may be used after gently removing mucus. Cool air mist may improve symptoms. Please follow up with your physician.

what kind of nasal saline spray or saline wash should someone with non-allergic chronic rhinitis use on a daily basis: there are isotonic and hypertonic types. also, can flonase be used daily long term for this or is it too harsh?

: Isotonic saline would be the best nose wash and you can use Flonase daily during your allergy season. It's not lake taking oral or injected steroids.

Sinus Surgery: What did your surgeon tell you? Usually they want a period of 2 weeks for optimal healing. Isotonic saline is recommended at first to prevent irritation.

: You can, but a more important thing to do is keep the site clean -- wash frequently with soap and water, and apply an antibacterial cream such as Neosporin or Bacitracin twice a day.  Nose piercings frequently get infected, and this will hopefully prevent that.

Sorry, no.: Nasal saline helps moisturize a dry nasal cavity, but will do nothing for the dilated capillaries of the external nasal skin. Topical antibiotics, oral antibiotics, and laser treatments may treat (but not "cure") the vessels of rosacea.

Also read this first: http://www.fda.gov/ForConsumers/ConsumerUpdates/ucm316375.htm so you don't use water straight from tap.

while giving nasal saline drops to my baby, much more than the normal dosage of the fluid gushed into the sleeping child's nostril. is it worrisome?

No: If your baby is breathing fine, that shouldn't  be worrisome, at any rate, the saline will be absorbed and no harm done,
