Depends: If you use it in your nose it would be fine. There is no connection between the back of your nose &amp; the middle ear space. I would not put it into your ear canal.

doing a nasal rinse, blowing hard, stoppage cleared but right ear started hurting. could  have caused some harm?

Accepted Answer

Yes: You could have perforated the eardrum, caused a bruise on it or just caused a bunch of pressure on the drum.  If you have a decrease in hearing, blood coming out of the canal or this doesn't improve or gets worse see your doctor.  The thing about sinus rinses is you don't need to blow hard.

my boyfriend is having severe ear pain after using equate brand saline nasal rinse...should we go to the emergency room?

Hard to say: The ears and nose have no direct connection so I cant see where the nose spray has anything to do with it. The sudden ear pain could just be pressure (like landing in a plane) and yawning a few times could open the Eustachian tube and relieve  it.It may also be a new onset ear infection, and an urgent care center would be a better place to start.

woke up to vibrational fan like noise left ear.  worsen when i stand up or walking. nose is congested but tried nasal rinse n nasonex (mometasone). ?

Ear: Many causes including eustachian tube issues and hearing loss. Nasal rinse may make it worse and nasonex (mometasone) takes two weeks to work. See an ENT asap to check it out with an exam and hearing test

did neilmed nasal rinse. while doing it i held my breathe and exhaled while the water was passing through my nose. when i did, it caused a pressure push on/out of both ears and i felt them pop. can this cause damage? is the water still in my ears?

: Most likely there is no ear condition associated, but if you experience ear pain,fever or cough, please see your physician. Sinusitis is often associated with otitis media.

im a dope. tried neilmed nasal rinse. used distilled water but forgot to add the sodium packet so it was just the h2o it burned so i stopped after one nostril. did i do damage? my ear now feels a lil full on that one side. cant believe i did this?

Do not fret: You did not do any lasting damage to yourself.
There is nothing to gain by trying to rise out your nose, the commercials notwithstanding.
Have a healthy diet, exercise 30 minutes/day, drink plenty of water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs. For nutrition: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/.

hi.i've had inner ear itch bubble & pressure.after nasal rinse the pain & pressure is unbearable.i have chronic allergies be am due for fess operation?

ENT evaluation: diagnosis and trestment. I suggest trying Advil or Aleve for pI suggest using a 12 hr. nasal decongestant nal spray for 2-3 days only, followed by nasal saline rinse/spray. Wait 10 minutes and use OTC Flonase: 2 sprays/noswtril once daily.

cant breath through my right nostril (a lot of the time) a nasil rinse will open it however, it can cause my ear burning and pain. i do have frequent left nasal nose bleeds, any ideas of cause? my m.d. says everything looks okay. thank you?

i blew my nose right after a nasal saline rinse. as i was blowing, my right ear started popping and hurting. do you suspect an infection? ive had lots of congestion and sneezing lately?

Accepted Answer

: The ears will pop when the Eustachian tube straightens and air rushes in to release a vacuum. The process can hurt initially but usually settles down.  By itself it does not represent infection, just a prior loss of normal air balance in the middle ear from a closed tube.  If the pain does not subside, contact your doc for guidance.

can i get amoeba brain eating from nasal rinse i live in nj i use tap water i only heat it for 2 minutes in microwave i've rinse my nose before with tap this week my nose was blckd i rinsed nd notice my ears popped nd developed a headache & nausea?

: The amoeba responsible for this disease does not survive the filtering and treatment of city water supplies. I would expect your nasal/head pain is from common irritation, not the amoeba.
