See OFP specialist: TMJ pain syndrome may be the result of a single disorder or a combination of several factors, neck, face and headache. bppv,  clicking, popping, etc. Due to the overlap of symptoms and diagnostic complexity, patients are often misdiagnosed. i got hit on the left side of my jaw and now the right side of my jaw hurts clear in to my ear?

Contralateral pain: Sometimes if you get hit on one side the lower jaw bone on the other side fractures. Another cause of pain is simple swelling from the trauma. Please see an Oral Surgeon immediately for imaging to rule out a sub-condylar fracture, and to properly treat the fracture and/or the trauma.

A Few Things: With that history it could be many things...Most likely causes include...
1. Tmj disorder
2. Sinusitis
3.Ear infection
i would recommend a md visit first to check ear and sinuses, then dentist if those are ok.
This is common as pain in the head can come from many sources and the actual cause can take a bit of diagnostic detective work.

TMD\TMJ possibly: Although there could be other causes or more cause than one, what you describe sounds like Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction and the pain is emanating from your jaw joint(s). This will need to be evaluated by a local dentist.

What came first: Temporal Mandibular Joint problems can result in jaw pain radiating to the ear. Can be a result of clenching or grinding the teeth while sleeping. A tooth abscess can also cause similar problems. Parotid gland inflammation, local lymph node enlargement suggests an infectious source. If the ear pain started first swimmers ear or an ear infection needs to be considered. An exam by your doctor is due

A few ideas: Self treat with soft diet, jaw exercises, massage, heat/cold, OTC pain meds. Avoid excessive gum chewing. Avoid clenching or grinding teeth. Avoid destructive habits like "popping" your jaw, cracking nuts  with your teeth, etc.
