Spit up: A little spitting up now and then is fine.  If it appears to be more of a regular occurrence, discuss it with your pediatrician.

Chest percussion : Sometimes the chest congestion you heard is actually a sound transmits from the upper airway, i.e. Nose or throat. If your baby really has chest congestion, he/she may breathe a lot faster than normal, nasal flaring, chest retraction and even with some wheezing sound. If  your baby is breathing with the above symptoms, please bring to the doctor.

No: There are many available over the counter formulations of buffered nasal saline that are designed for the purpose.I use it quite liberally for this problem, often requiring a garden hose like application to be effective.Babies sneezing afterwards helps the product work.

Nasal saline : There is really no medicine that provides much help in this age group.Keeping the nasal secretions thinned out with saline &amp; suction &amp; using tylenol (acetaminophen) if grumpy are the main treatment. Some physicians will use some otc meds after they have examined a child &amp; decided it may help.

Mucus in baby stools: There may be several reasons for baby stools to have mucus besides  allergies, which may include milk proteins. These include infectios, usually viral, other causes of malabsorption, intussception, teething etc. Irritation from mucus can cause diaper rash, which can be treated with simple meds like Zinc oxide or antifungal cream

i changed the formula on my 3month old from enfamil infant to enfamil a.r he passes stools 5 times a day now: yellow thicker w/ mucus is that normal?

Yes: The difference between the two formulas is that the ar contains a rice starch to "thicken" the formula a bit so that the baby doesn't spit up as much. This can increase fiber content in the stool, making the stools a bit thicker. 5 poops a day for a 3 month old is totally normal. Babies poop a lot!

Amoeba Shmomoeba...: Think about it this way: Whatever is causing the diarrhea, an infant is very sensitive to fluid loss, and other losses too.So if it has been excessive and persistent and the baby won't take enough fluids by mouth to compensate for the losses(dry mouth, decreased tears and urine volume, acting cranky and tired), it's time to see a doctor. Let him figure out the cause, whether amoeba or just a virus
