Incomplete info: Spinal changes are most common during rapid growth periods like adolescence.After linear growth stops, little change is expected. You have not provided any info about the amount of scoliosis, whether it is typical or due to deformed vertebrae. Curves in lumbar spine can be associated with back pain due to its altered mechanics (which can increase degeneration ) and curve may worsen with age due to further degenerative changes as well as and/or loss of bone density.

Scoliosis: Jack, at this age, unfortunately the bones cannot be molded and the spine would retain its shape. However, you can halt the process by maintaining proper posture while standing and sitting. Swimming will help significantly as there is no gravitational effect while you are at least neck deep in water. Just walking in water that deep will benefit you a lot. Avoid prolonged sitting or slouching

: Scoliosis in the "left lumbar/throacic area will in general not cause problems in delivery or more "risky".  The birth canal is usually not affected, but there are several  other situations which may result in potential risk or a C section.

Early arthritis: Not sure why a 34yo has these problems. Your description of X-ray sounds like back spasm causing some local splinting and curvature,not classic scoliosis. Osteophytes typically seen in degenerative arthritis. Do you have autoimmune disease? Lupus? Psoriasis? Rheumatoid?

i have had excruciating lower back pain for around 7 years. i had an mri which showed mild scoliosis and moderate facet joint hypertrophy. i was dismissed nothing wrong. i have just had a second mri. says reduction of lumbar lordosis. any advice?

: A conservative idea is, do you have a limb length difference or pelvic rotation or both. This can cause the worsening of scoliosis or help cause it.

MRI findings : For many years there has been wear of the bones in the low back and now arthritis. There are low back nerves that come out around those low backbone that don't have space, the holes through which they pass are smaller than they should be.  There is an abnormal side curve to the mid and low back which is markedly large.  To understand how these findings relate to you requires a physical examination

Yes: This should not cause any adverse effects on blood pressure and can help with the pain.  Not so concerned about the curve in the spine.  It is not large and many with scoliosis live a full life without even knowing they have it.  Morning stiffness is more suggestive of arthritis.  There are some rheumatoid conditions that cause spine stiffness and pain.  Have them discuss it with their doc.

Consult PT first: A consultation with a physical therapist is the best way to learn exercises. After evaluation, the pt and you plan a program. Besides handouts, the pt will watch you perform exercises to be sure you do them correctly. "treat your own back" by robin mackenzie is a very good resource, however, go to a certified mackenzie physical therapist and clinic before starting to be safe.
