ive just had a mini tummy tuck with lipo of flanks. im 10 days post operation. when i sit my lower belly now makes a roll of fat over the incision and the incision tucks in. othis normal due to swelling? will it go down to make a flat belly?

Go see a doctor: Before undergoing a mini or full  tummy tuck.Slow down.Try on a bikini and look in a full length mirror. Do you see bulges?Weigh yourself and look up your bmi. Body mass index. Then measure your waist. If it is greater than 88 cm or 35 inches for a female then you may have extra fat on your frame or skeleton. The best way is to decrease calories in and increase energy expenditure meaning ex.

In : In a far away country, how will you select the right surgeon and the right hospital.

Many problems - stay during healing time, who will help you during that time, how well trained and responsible are the doctors and their team, how well will you be treated should complications occur, etc etc,

over the years, I have seen many patients, who had undergone surgeries in other countries, coming back with problems.

So, don't consider just the cost.

Mini TT: It depends upon exactly what the operation is to be preformed. Some mini TTs are just skin removal while others are more involved, muscle repair, liposuction, etc.

This : This will depend on muscle repair or no muscle repair with your mini tummy tuck.  The muscle repair will lengthen the post op recovery with no heavy lifting (greater than 20 lbs) or strenuous activity for 4-6 weeks.  Without abdominal muscle repair, the return to activity can be a few weeks.  Lifting with your legs as opposed to upper body will also be preferable. Best of luck to you.

In : In a mini-tummy tuck the only skin and subcutaneous fat removed is from below the belly button. If you were to gain or lose weight after this surgery it may effect the way your abdomen looks but should not cause an odd or unusual accumulation of fat elsewhere.

Tell Surgeon: I'm sorry to hear about the complication you are experiencing; this is especially  frustrating since you are on vacation. Best to communicate with you surgeon ( phone or e-mail);  he/she should be aware of the situation and provide you with a plan.  Fortunately, a seroma  will not necessarily pose an urgent problem and may be able to be dealt with when you are back home ( usually aspiration). Best.

Mini : Mini tummy tucks (witch hazel) have less post operative pain that tummy tucks (witch hazel), but more than liposuction. Most patients take narcotics for a few days, but some need only Acetaminophen (tylenol). Icing the area can help, but always keep cloth between you and the ice, and do not apply it continuously as this can cause frostbite.
