Mini : Mini tummy tucks (witch hazel) have less post operative pain that tummy tucks (witch hazel), but more than liposuction. Most patients take narcotics for a few days, but some need only Acetaminophen (tylenol). Icing the area can help, but always keep cloth between you and the ice, and do not apply it continuously as this can cause frostbite.

Pain : Pain medication requirements following a procedure can be hard to predict. Mini tummy tucks (witch hazel) can include different aspects that will cause more pain. If a muscle plication is performed, you will have more pain. If you have more skin tightness you will have more pain. Most paints will need an oral narcotic for a couple days and then transition to ibuprofen. The oral narcotic should be a the smallest dose possible to get you relief and avoid the side effects. Discuss your past experience with your surgeon and find the best possible choice. Best wishes dr. Peterson.

OTC: Mini tummy tuck is not a very painful operation such as a c-section. However it is not pain free. Pain tolerance varied from patient to patient. Most patient just take extra strength tylenol (acetaminophen) otherwise a few doses of prescription pain medication for the first few nights will do.
