There are several : Things.  1. A trigger finger or tendinitis may present with pain 2. An early arthritic joint that may seem to hurt out of no where 3 an infection although usually pain is with swelling and redness 4 a bite or sliver or foreign body 5 nerve compression that affects sensation can present with painful tingling. 6 referred pain from another site/problem.

Tendinitis? Trigger?: This could be a trigger finger tendinitis, but you will need more of an evaluation to clarify the diagnosis. Ask your physician if this is what you have

Initially yes: If your problem is acute ice is the way to go you might also try advil (ibuprofen) r naprosin 
after 24hrs heat may help
if pain persist.... See your hand surgeon.

Doctor can evaluate: Such symptoms may be due to a problem in the arm itself or in the nerves coming out of the spine and going to the arm.  A primary care doctor, or a physical medicine doctor (PM&amp;R doctor), can evaluate. A neurologist or an orthopedic doctor may be consulted, if needed. Some people get nerve entrapment problems at the elbow.

Avoid exercise : You could have a tendinitis on the finger, tendon or ligament injury ,or a bony injury (less likely) . Rest the finger by avoiding the exercises movements that make you hurt. May apply cold compresses for 15 minutes to the affected digit 2-3 Xday. See what happens. If there is no improvement then you will need to see your doctor and possibly be referred to a sports medicine , ortho/hand specialist

See your doctor: See your doctor. She or he can take a good history, exam you and send you to the appropriate specialist. Your symptoms might come from a neck problem or a problem with the nerves in your arm itself.

: I doubt these symptoms are due to stress. They are characteristic of a neurological problem. If only the shoulder and hand were involved, a radiculopathy from a bulging disc in your neck would be suspected, but with the left side of the face and the left leg also involved, a lesion in the right cerebral cortex of the brain would be a concern. A neurologist is best to evaluate and advise you.

Finger pain: start with your PCP, as many common things do not require a specialized treatment, however if there is more detail needed then a hand surgeon

Accepted Answer

Generally no conn--: Ection between the 3rd finger and drinking, unless under the influence you jammed it or fell on it, or injured it somehow.
See your pcp and have a xray taken to rule out a fracture. Other possibilities would be a contusion with discoloration... Blueish/greenish as well of the finger, or some ligament/tendon injury to the finger.
