There are several : Things. 1. A trigger finger or tendinitis may present with pain 2. An early arthritic joint that may seem to hurt out of no where 3 an infection although usually pain is with swelling and redness 4 a bite or sliver or foreign body 5 nerve compression that affects sensation can present with painful tingling. 6 referred pain from another site/problem.

Carpal tunnel arthri: Common cause of finger pain could be carpal tunnel syndrome, rheumatoid or osteoarthritis. If it continues see a rheumatologist.
