Absolutely NOT!: The combination of alcohol and Methotrexate has caused many people to have liver failure requiring a liver transplant to survive.Methotrexate can irritate the liver by itself but is quite safe at the low weekly doses used to treat many autoimmune conditions.Never drink any alcohol while on methotrexate.If you absolutely "must" drink alcohol, tell your doc so he/she can take you off methotrexate.

See below: As a good rule of thumb, if you have an infection, you would want to leave off your Methotrexate and Imuran (azathioprine) and when the infection resolves, you can resume them.

Probably not much: This is a small dose of methotrexate. Assuming you have blood tests to screen for medication toxicity and these tests are normal, the long term risk is small. Make sure blood is screened for liver toxicity and reduced blood counts every 3 months.

Could be Crohn's: Some of the most common side effects can be similar to symptoms of crohn's. These include mouth sores, fever, diarrhea, blood in your stools, body aches and abdominal pain. You may want to check with your doctor and make sure this is not a flare up of your disease.

Disease mod med: Methotrexate (mtx) is used for a variety of conditions. In rheumatology mtx is most commonly used to treat rheumatoid arthritis (RA) . We use 10-25 mg given once weekly for ra. Mtx treats symptoms (pain) but also prevents joint damage and disability in ra. The main side effects: fatigue, some hair loss,  and  upset stomach. We monitor blood counts and liver tests every 2-3 months.

Plenty : XX oral dos: Methotrexate is a surprisingly effective drug for many forms of arthritis and the consensus 1st choice for RA by the acr and eular (european). The oral dosage is more problematic because of variable absorption and first-pass effect through liver.  It is completely absorbed with sucutaneous injection and doesn't bolus liver. Hair loss can be a problem. Everyone should take 2mg of folic acid.
