Cash : With rare exceptions, laser resurfacing is considered a cosmetic procedure, not covered by any insurance. However, if you have a health savings account (hsa), you might be able to use that money to pay for it. Laser resurfacing is a medical procedure.

Lasers are medical: Lasers of sufficiant power for hair removal are generally considered medical (precsriptive) devices that are used under the supervision of a physician. Regulations vary bewteen states as to who a physician may delegate to for the actual treatment.

how bad would your eyes have to be to have to have cataracts removed by laser.  dr. said, i need the procedure done in both eyes.  need medical advice?

Please listen to: your opthamalogist.  If he/she thinks its time than it probably is.  You can get a second opinion if you like.  Lots of progress has been made in this area and people are generally very happy with the outcome of cataract surgery.  Peace and good health.

i have severe sciatica pain not responding medically. recent mri shows severe central canal stenosis, l4-l5 level. surgery options, laser vs. knife?

Recommend norml surg: In my opinion the laminectomy may be the best option.  Although it is not normally helpful for pain, it should help in a case of central canal stenosis, which often causes pain and weakness over time.  I would not recommend the laser surgery.

twinges of pain over right kidney.also pain in the middle of my back just to the right of spinal cord i do have a history of kidney stones. one had to be laser. seeing more often.urine is slightly darker.should i wait it out or seek medical attention?

Kidney stone: For now, just drink plenty of fluids and take whatever pain reliever medication you have at home. If you develop more severe pain in the back with fever, you may need more urgent treatment and antibiotics for which you should consult your urologist or primary physician.

i've been going to a medical spa to have syringiomas removed with a laser, i have many under each eye and need to go for my third treatment, an ob gyn is doing this, should i be seeing a dermatologist?

Skin treatments : As long as the physician is properly trained and experienced, it does not matter what of doctor is providing the service.  This procedure is simple and you should see whoever you feel comfortable with.

At what?: Over the counter pointers are of low wattage but can still reach several football fields in length ( ie airplanes complaning about green light etc) and depending on the laser blind you if aimed directly onto your retina.

Wrinkle removal: Laser resurfacing is a way to peel a layer of skin.  In doing so, brown spots are removed, reorganization of underlying collagen ocurs, and smoothing of the texture of skin results.  Laser resurfacing is generally either ablative (deeper) or minimally ablative (more superficial), the former is more effective on deeper wrinkles but with longer down time.

Yes: It is helpful, but it is a fairly mild treatment, and typically a series of these is required.
